[Source:Freeport [IL] Journal Standard, Monday, Feb 11, 1918, p. 10, Col. 1, 2.] "Fayette S. Ross Dead. Former Popcorn Man Expires Saturday At Watertown Hospital. Fayette S. Ross, for several years a well-known resident of Freeport, passed away at the state hospital in Watertown Saturday noon. He had been ill for the past five years. The news of the passing of Mr. Ross brings grief to a wide circle of friends. He operated a popcorn stand at the corner of Stephenson and Chicago streets for about six years, his stand having been one of the first of the kind installed in Freeport. Decedent was born at Byron, Wisconsin, on October 17, 1863. He was united in marriage at Fayette, Iowa, in 1884, to Miss Josephine Badger. He is survived by his wife, who resides at Rockford, and the following children: Claude Ross, of Freeport; Frank, Harry, Virgil and Gladys Ross, all of Rockford, and Mrs. Hazel Freidag of Maywood, Ill. Two brother and two sisters also survive. The are: Bert Ross of Kansas City, Mo; Frank Ross of Hartford, Wis; Mrs. Blanche Tunison of Atwood, Colorado, and Mrs. Louise Rinehimer of Fayette, Iowa. @Mr. Ross was a member of Evergreen lodge of Masons, of Freeport. The remains will be brought here for burial. Funeral services will be held from the home of Claude Ross, 71 Grand street, at two o'clock Wednesday afternoon. Rev. R. E. Chandler, pastor of the Second Presbyterian church, will officiate and burial will be made in the city cemetery. Evergreen lodge of Masons will have charge of the funeral.
