Mrs. Alma Loeb, whose maiden name was Schwartz, was born October 23, 1862 in Dubuque, Iowa. When she was four years old her people moved to Fayette County where she has lived ever since with the exception of four years after her marriage, when she resided in Spring Creek, Blackhawk county. At the age of thirteen years she became on baptism a member of the Lutheran church.

March 30, 1886 she was married to Valentine Loeb, with whom not many weeks ago she celebrated the silver anniversary.

Of her six children, one, Edward died at the age of 2 years, while five, Fred, Robert, Henry and Ida survive her.

During the last few years it became evident that she suffered from weakness of her heart, but being of an energetic and industrious nature she paid little attention to her troubles. Some time ago, however, several serious attacks of this disease caused her to be under the doctors care. But no one anticipated the nearness of the exit.

Friday morning, July 21 she was apparently comfortable when suddenly her children heard a slight noise from her room and when they found her she had breathed her last and her sprit had left its frail abode.

Besides her husband and children she leaves four stepchildren and three brothers. Her age was 48 years, 8 months and 28 days.

Last services were held from the Lutheran church in Oelwein Sunday a. m., Rev. Zimmermann conducting the services.

Note: from Oelwein Register, July 1911. Burial at Woodlawn Cemetery. Daughter, Alma not listed as survivor.
