Edward Reiter

Edward W. Reiter, 83, Oelwein, Iowa, died Monday night, March 13, 2006, at Strawberry Point Lutheran Home in Strawberry Point from a lengthy illness. Funeral services were held Friday, March 17 at Zion Lutheran Church in Oelwein with Rev. Leo Combs-Lay officiating. Burial was in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, rural Oelwein. Geilenfeld Funeral Home of Oelwein was in charge of arrangements.

Edward was born November 12, 1922, on the family farm west of Oelwein to Julius and Marie (Loeb) Reiter. He married Alice Fox January 18, 1953, in Fairbank, Iowa.

Edward was involved in farming, and was also a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Oelwein and the American Legion in Maynard.

Survivors include his wife Alice; two sons, Harold (Joan) Reiter of Waterman, Ill., and John (Sharlyn) Reiter of Ocala, Fla.; a daughter, Joyce (Brad) Larkin of Lansing; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Minnie Reid of Oelwein.

He was preceded in death by a son, Wayne Reiter on March 30, 1980; two brothers, Julius and Raymond Reiter; and his parents, Julius and Marie.

A memorial fund has been established for the Strawberry Point Lutheran Home and Hospice.
