Mrs. James Burch died at the home of her stepson in Brainard, Thursday night, January 20, 1898, at the age of 86 years. Deceased was in Ohio in 1812 and came to Iowa in 1858, and for many years resided in this vicinity, herself and husband, who was familiarly known as "Uncle Jimmy Burch", living on the farm that is now owned by F. C. Belt, just north of the city. For several years she has lived at Brainard. The funeral services were held in the Baptist Church, this city, Saturday, the sermon being preached by Rev. Andrews, of Toddville. The services were largely attended, deceased having a large circle of relatives and friends in this vicinity. The remains were laid to rest in the Oelwein Cemetery.
