MARRIED:—January 14th, 1891, Mr.
Fred Miehe, of Maynard, and Miss
Jennie Meyer, of Peosta, Iowa, in the
Lutheran church at the latter place
The wedding ceremony was performed
by Rev. Burst, of Dubuque, at 12 m.
The wedding march was played by Miss
Weiland, of Dubuque, who is a fine
player. The bridegrooms and bridesmaids
were Mr. August Miehe, of Maynard,
and Miss Anna Miehe, of Peosta
and Mr. W. H. Meyer and Miss Etta
Becher, of Oelwein. The bride wore
an old rose silk, with trail, and wreath
of white lilies which ran full length
of dress, and over all hung a light silk
gauge veil extending to the floor. The
brides-maids were dressed very near
the same way. There were about 100
friends present. After the wedding
all adjourned to the bride's home
where a grand feast was spread. Din
ner being served until everyone was
satisfied. In the evening everyone
who wished danced to the music of the
Maynard band. Games and amusements
of all kinds had been provided
for those who did not wish to dance
To name the presents would take to
much time and space; they were all
nice and useful. The wishes of their
many friends are that their journey
through life will always be pleasant
and the shades and shadows of this
life they may never know.
Oelwein Register - 22 Jan 1891
