Craft, John H., farmer, Section 30; PO Brainard; owns the northeast quarter section of Section 30 and twenty acres in the west half of the northeast quarter of the same section; born at Muncy Creek, Lycoming Co., Pennsylvania, Jan. 4, 1819; removed to Greenbrier Co., West Virginia, in 1839; resided there until the fall of 1845, when he went to Kane Co., Illinois; removed to his present location in the Fall of 1851; he was in the tannery business in Virginia; has engaged in farming since he came West. He has held various Town and District offices. Married Rebecca S. Peters July 28, 1842; she was born in Monroe Co., West Virginia, August 16, 1822; they have had eleven children, one son died in infancy; those living are Henry S., born Feb. 12, 1845; Samuel A., born Nov. 8, 1846; Margaret E., born Dec. 16, 1848; Mary Ann, born July 27*; Sarah J., born April 27, 1854; Jerusha C., born Feb. 27, 1856; John A., born Feb. 9, 1859; Clara J., born June 19, 1869*; Rebecca Luella, born March 26, 1863, and Charles N., born Nov. 16, 1864.
