I have found the birth record of W. R. Grodeland (Walter)in Emmet County Birth Record Book 2, page 7. He was born 17 Sep 1899 in High Lake township, Emmet County, Iowa. His mother's maiden name was Mary Johnson; his father was Ole B. Grodeland.
In Emmet County Death Record Book 3, page 141 I found Henry Birney Grodland, who died 17 Jul 1950 of coronary thrombosis at Holy Family Hospital in Estherville, Emmet County, Iowa. His age was 57 years, 5 months, 20 days. He was born 27 Mar 1893 at St. James, MN. His usual residence was 949 Elm Street, Beloit, Rock Co., WI. He was married when he died. He had been a stionary engineer with a wire company. His father was Ola B. Grodland; his mother was Mary Johnson. He was buried at Lost Island Cemetery, Palo Alto Co., IA
