William O Dowden married to Frances was my great grandfather. I remember him as a small child, he lived well into his 90's.They had five children, Grace, Ernest, Fred (my grandfather born December 29, 1882), Mary and Rilla. My info says they were natives of Ohio but moved to Iowa in 1855 and lived in Marion County. My grandfather, Fred, was a banker and realtor in Spirit Lake. He and his wife, Bess, had four children. My uncle, Fred, still lives in Spirit Lake and just turned 78. My mother was Ellene Dowden, she is currently 95 and has two older sisters still living.
