Services for Lyle C. Lastine were held at the Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville, Iowa on Wednesday, August 29, 2007 at 10:30 am. Officiating was Pastor Jerry Lastine. Interment at the East Side Cemetery in Estherville.

Lyle C. Lastine, the son of Chris H. and Anna K. (Jensen) Lastine, was born November 17, 1913, in Rolfe, Iowa. He died Sunday, August 26, 2007, at Avera Holy Family Health in Estherville, Iowa, at the age of 93.

Shortly after Lyle was born, his family moved to Central Square, New York. The family lived there for about five years and then returned to Iowa. He received his education in the Ringsted school graduating from Ringsted High School in 1932.

After graduating from high school, Lyle began farming and farmed with his brother for five years. On May 24, 1939, Lyle was united in marriage to Irene Pickens in Pipestone, Minnesota. Following their marriage the couple made their home in Halfa, Iowa, where they were engaged in farming. While living in Halfa, Lyle was active in community affairs and served as the President of the Halfa School Board. Later they moved to Graettinger area where Lyle continued to farm. He received an award from the State of Iowa for implementation of contour farming on his land. In 1954, the family moved to rural Terril, Iowa where Lyle farmed raised cattle and lived for 34 years until he retired in 1988. Lyle was active in the Morning Kiwanis Club while he lived in Terril. They had two children, Wesley and Cheryl. When the couple retired in 1988, they moved to Estherville to make their home. In his leisure time Lyle enjoyed fishing and visiting with friends. Lyle was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Grateful for having shared Lyle's life are his wife, Irene of Estherville; son, Wesley Lastine and his wife, Connie of Ames, Iowa; grandchildren, Douglas Lastine and his wife, Beth; Jana Sobecks and her husband, Brian; Micheaele Satterlund and her husband, Jason; David Lastine and five great-grandchildren.

Preceding Lyle in death was his daughter, Cheryl, who died January 12, 2005; his parents; two brothers, Russell and Everett and one sister, Virginia.
