He was married June 8, 1927, to the former Ruth Kidder, who was a teacher in the Estherville High School.

In 1945 upon the death of Cummings he purchased the Cummings interest in not only the Estherville store but stores also in Spencer and Sheldon.

He is survived by his wife, children, a sister, Mrs. Grace Hill of St. Paul, and four brothers: Woodrow of Cincinnati; Harry of Tacoma, and Bill and Leo of St. Paul.

Hoye was born May 15, 1900, at Waucoma, where he received his early education. He received his education in pharmacy at Highland Park College, Des Moines, after which he began work at New Hampton, before coming to Estherville.

Hoye was especially active in organizations concerned with conservation and preservation of wildlife. He liked hunting and fishing and also spent much time admiring nature, learning about it, and how to preserve it.
