The funeral service for the late Mrs. Halvor Peterson of the Jack Creek township was held on Friday, Jan. 6th 1933. A short service was conducted at the home of L. H. Peterson, the son of the departed, where the mother and son had lived happily together for many hears. The service proper was begun at 2 p.m. and it was held in the Immanuel Lutheran church south of Gruver. As a member of this congregation Mrs. Peterson had proven to be one of its very faithful ones. Rev. S. Strand of Wallingford, a former pastor of the deceased, assisted Rev. Peder Nordsletten, the pastor of the congregation, in the service that was conducted at the house and likewise at the church. The Immanuel Lutheran church choir rendered three songs at the church and also furnished the singing at the High Lake cemetery where the interment was made. Mr. H. Mahlum of the Mahlum & Anderson undertakers firm directed the funeral. The pall bearers were the following: P. G. Paulson, Sten Tendal, Andrew Olson, John O. Johnson, Knut Tangeros and AanonAanonson.
Mrs. Halvor Peterson who prior to her marriage was known as Sigvor Vike, was born in Voss Norway on Feb. 12, 1848. She was united in marriage to Halvor Peterson Ronve on June 7, 1877. To this union five children were born.
Mr. and Mrs. Peterson came to this country in the spring of 1889; they came direct to Emmet county, where Mrs. Peterson continually resided until the day of her death, Jan. 3, 1933. She enjoyed very good health until about ten days before she passed away. She then contracted a cold which developed into pneumonia, which finally caused her death. When her earthly sojourn was completed she had attained as her high age; 84 years, 10 months and 22 days.
Mrs. Peterson was preceded in death by her husband and three children, one of them Halvor, passed away less than a month before Mrs. Peterson did. Those left behind to mourn the loss of a very kind mother are two children, Lewis Peterson and Mrs. Ray Bryan.
