Last Rites Here for Former Resident, W. R. Horswell, 88

Last rites for Walter R. Horswell, 88, former Armstrong resident, were held Friday afternoon from Slaba Funeral Service with the Rev. R. D. Tappmeyer officiating. Burial was in Armstrong Grove Cemetery.

Mr. Horswell died Jan. 25 at Warren Nursing Home, Warren, Minn. Funeral services were conducted Jan. 27 at Warren.

He was born Dec. 5, 1872, at Humboldt, Iowa, the son of Richard and Dorcas Horswell. At the age of two years he moved with his parents to a homestead in Armstrong Grove Township. He received his schooling in this community and farmed with his parents. He was an active member of the Methodist church in Armstrong.

Mr. Horswell operated a produce business in Swea City and in Terril prior to moving to Menagha, Minn., where he was proprietor of two summer resorts. In recent years he had lived at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Herbert Behsman at Warren.

His survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Behsman; six grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Victoria Murray of St. Paul, Minn., Mrs. Thyrea [sic] B. Johnson of Sioux City, Mrs. Mae E. Laisy of Glendive, Mont., and Mrs. Blanche A. Woodbury of Montclair, N. J.; and two brothers, Garfield S. Horswell of Armstrong and Blaine H. Horswell of Wilmington, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, one brother and one son, Arlow Horswell.
