MRS. PATRICK HOWE DEAD

DIED MARCH 17TH AFTER PROLONGED ILLNESS

FUNERAL HELD SATURDAY

Resided in Estherville since 1883--A Noble Woman
Mrs. Patrick Howe died at her home in this city, Thursday afternoon, March 17th [1910] after a prolonged illness.

Funeral was held from the Catholic church at 10:30 o'clock Saturday forenoon, conducted by Rev. Father Coffey, an immense concourse of relatives and friends being present.

Deceased was the mother of fourteen children ten of whom are living, five daughters and five sons, as follows: Mrs. N. H. White, Mrs. Gail Collins, Margaret, Bessie, Loretta, Steve, Michael, Frank, James and Charles, all of whom were at the funeral. The relatives from out-of-town to attend the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. John Carrigg, Miss Margaret Carrigg, Frank, James and Steve Carrigg, of Waterloo, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Flynn of Cedar Rapids and Mr. and Mrs. John Ryan of Sioux City.

Ellen Carrigg was born in New York State, August 10, 1853 and at the time of her death was past 56 years of age. Nov. 7, 1871, she was married at Parkersburg, Butler county, Iowa to Patrick Howe and in the spring of 1883 came to Estherville, where she has since resided. She was a devoted and loving wife and mother and a kind and considerate neighbor. Her illness dates back nearly two years and everything was done to bring relief but all to no purpose. Her death was expected but nevertheless it was a shock to relatives and friends. Interment was made in the Catholic cemetery.
