EDINA, Minn. - Services for Harry Balmer, 86, formerly of Estherville, will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Estherville Lutheran Church with Pastor Kermit Rye and Pastor Arlyn Morris officiating. Interment will be in Lincoln Township Cemetery, rural Dolliver. He died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 1995 at Heritage of Edina Care Center at Edina, Minn. Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
He was born June 27, 1909 at Dolliver, the son of Andrew and Anna (Fredrickson) Balmer. He attended Maple Hill Grade School and graduated from Dolliver High School in 1930. He began farming on the family farm in 1934. He was united in marriage with Sylvia Nelson May 23, 1943 at Wallingford. Following marriage he continued to farm until retiring in 1976 and moving to Estherville. In 1993 they moved to Edina to be near their children. He was a member of the Estherville Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife Sylvia, of Edina; a son Larry and daughter Mrs. Jerry (Cheryl) Hammer both of Bloomington, Minn., grandchildren David and Alison Balmer of Bloomington; sisters Emma Troutman, Watertown, Tenn. and Edna Anderson of Chokio, Minn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
