Died, on Wednesday, December 15, at the hospital at Estherville Marie Margaret Balmer, at the age of seven years, three months and five days. This little girl was taken sick on Monday night and Tuesday Dr. Mereness was called. He pronounced it appendicitis. Dr. Anderson was called, and they decided she must be operated on at once. She was taken to the hospital and operated on, and all that medical aid could do was done, but it had already gone too long, and at 12:30, Wednesday she passed away. This death seems doubly hard owing to the fact that Mrs. Balmer was being operated on at Rochester, Minn., the same day, not even knowing her little girl was sick. Mr. Balmer had to remain with his wife and could not get away until Saturday morning. He arrived at Dolliver Saturday night. The funeral was held at the M. E. church, Sunday, at 2 o'clock. Rev. Whitford had charge and he preached "a very comforting sermon. Mrs. Whitford, Mrs. Sullivan and Mr. Kahrs sang three beautiful selections, Some Time We'll Understand," "Saved by Grace" and "Safe in the Arms of Jesus." The flowers were beautiful. The children in her grade at school gave a very pretty bouquet and all the school went together and bought flowers, besides many from friends and relatives. Six of her schoolmates were pall bearers. The little form was laid to rest in the Dolliver cemetery. To the bereaved parents, brothers and sisters we extend our deepest sympathy, and may He who doeth all things well comfort their hearts, and while we can not understand now why it should be sometime we'll understand.
