Armstrong - Funeral services for Beatrice S. Goodge, 95, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct 20 2001 at the First Presbyterian Church in Armstrong with Ron Brink CLP officiating. Internment will be held at Armstrong Grove Cemetery. She died on Monday, Oct 15, 2001 at the Good Samaritan Center in Estherville.

Visitation will be on Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church in Armstrong.

Bea was born on Aug 25, 1906 in Kossuth County, the daughter of William and Flora (Mitchell) Moore. She lived with her family in Emmet Co near Dolliver and also at Gridley before the family settled in Armstrong. She graduated from Armstrong High School in 1924.

On Nov 22, 1924 Bea was united in marriage to Winifred "Ole" Goodge in Council Bluffs. The couple worked together for many years in their painting and wallpapering business. They were both employed for many years at First Trust and Savings Bank in Armstrong. Ole died in 1968. After his death, Bea continued to work several years more at the bank. In January of 1998 she moved to Estherville to make her home with her sister Mable for several weeks prior to becoming a resident of the Good Samaritan Center.

In her younger years she enjoyed flowers, sewing, baking and cooking. Bea also enjoyed collecting salt and pepper shakers.

Bea has been a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church in Armstrong where she became an Elder. She was active in the Armstrong Historical Museum and was a volunteer at the Valley Vue Care Center.

She is survived by one daughter, Maryann Starbird and her husband, Kenneth of Amarillo, Texas, two granddaughters, Dena Luscombe Newell and her husband, Tim of Keller Texas and Amy Luscombe Thompson of Pottsboro, Texas; three great granddaughters, Halle Newell, Nicole Peterson and Ashley Thompson, one sister Mabel Huntsinger of Estherville and many nieces and nephews.

Bea was preceded in death by her husband, five brothers and two sisters.

Henry - Olsen - Fuhrman Funeral Home of Armstrong is in charge of arrangements.
