James Godfredsen the son of Lloyd and Ardis (Tjensvold) Godfredsen was born February 24, 1946 in Bancroft, Iowa and departed this life on Saturday, September 24, 2005 at Avera Holy Family Hospital in Estherville, Iowa at the age of 59.

He received his education in Armstrong school, graduating from Armstrong High School in 1965. He also attended Mankato State University.

On May 29, 1982, James was united in marriage to Deb Anderson in Des Moines, Iowa. The couple made their home in Armstrong where James taught in the Armstrong School System for 32 years. He also coached football, basketball and girl's softball and track. James retired from teaching in 2002 and was currently employed with Michaelson Inc.

James was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church in Armstrong. For hobbies, he enjoyed hunting, watching school sporting events, the Green Bay Packers, and fishing at his favorite Resort, Oak Island, Minnesota.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Deb of Armstrong; his children, Stacie of Welcome, Minnesota and Joel of Armstrong; also his son and daughter, Jason and Marne of Texas; two brothers, Bob Godfredsen and his wife, Marie of Sibley, Iowa and Walter Godfredsen and his wife, Jean of Truman, Minnesota.

He has been preceded in death by his parents.
