Joseph William Madden, Jr, was born on December 24, 1962, in Estherville, Iowa to Joseph and Cherie (Kingston) Madden. He passed away at Avera Holy Family Hospital in Estherville on March 9, 2022, at the age of 59.

Joe was baptized and confirmed at the United Methodist Church in Armstrong, Iowa. He graduated in 1981 from Sentral High School where he was active in FFA and football. He then attended Iowa State University earning a BS in agriculture. He was a diehard Cyclone fan and enjoyed going to Ames to watch the games.

On April 13, 1996, he was united in marriage to Darcy Sadusky in Jackson, Minnesota. The union was blessed with two daughters Cecelia and Abigail.

Joe was a member of the United Methodist Church in Armstrong. His church family was very important, and he served as the summer camp coordinator. He was also a member of the Emmet County Cattleman’s Association.

Family always came first for Joe. He enjoyed many family vacations and camping in the summer.

Joe was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

Joe is survived by his wife Darcy, Ringsted, Iowa; daughters, Cecelia and Abigail of Emmetsburg, Iowa; his mother, Cherie Jensen, Armstrong; siblings, Elizabeth Madden, Armstrong, Steve (Melissa) Madden, Armstrong, Christopher (Kirsten) Madden, Carnation, Washington, and Jennifer Madden, Bozeman, Montana; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; his mother-in-law, Sharon Sadusky, Jackson; and sister-in-law, Shelly Sadusky, Jackson.

Joe is preceded in death by his father, Joseph Madden, Sr., sister, Sheila Hass, his grandparents, Leonard and Gladys Madden and John and Mae Kingston, his father-in-law, Stanley Sadusky, and brother-in-law, Bradley Sadusky.

The funeral service was held Monday, March 14, 2022 at the United Methodist church in Armstrong with interment at Armstrong Grove Cemetery, Armstrong.
