Cheryl Kay (Taylor) Friesner was born on December 30, 1944 to Orval and Della (Erickson) Taylor. She died on May 17, 2020 after a short battle with cancer. She graduated from Estherville, Iowa High School.

She married to Arthur Allen and to this union were born four children Tamra (Paul) Thielen from Omaha, Nebraska, Trent Allen from Salem, Oregon, Traci (Joe) Einck from Primghar,Iowa and Tonja (Phil) Maas from Salem, Oregon. Tammy and Tina Friesner from Estherville were also known as her children.

Cheryl returned to Estherville, Iowa after living in Oregon. While working at D&B OK Hardware, she met and married Larry Friesner. She worked for NW Iowa Podiatry before completing her career with ACE Hardware.

She was lifelong member of Estherville Lutheran Church. She cherished spending quality time with her family, visiting the Oregon Coast, watching Larry sing in the Men’s Choir, taking care of her immaculate lawn, washing her beautiful and spot-free black car, and talking with her children, grandkids, and great-grandkids.

She loved taking vacations to see something historical or part of American geography such as the Black Hills and the Upper Peninsula in Michigan. She even drank a Mint Julep at the Kentucky Derby. In her spare time, she read autobiographical and biographical books as there was no room for fiction in her world. She never missed a Sunday morning crossword puzzle (she could actually finish the puzzle!) which meant a permanent Crossword Puzzle Dictionary sat next to her recliner. Her love for words made it difficult for anyone to beat her at Wheel of Fortune. Her love for wolves and wildlife will forever be a memory of those who saw her in wolf attire. She remembered every birthday with a special birthday card and a Christmas ornament that had a special meaning to her children and grandchildren. There wasn’t anything she couldn’t fix – just needed a little hardware!

Left to cherish her memory are her 6 children, 14 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. Her sister and brother in-law Sandy and Verlyn Sunde, sister and brother in-law Sue and Joe Graettinger, sister and brother in law Pam and Howard Meyer, and sister and brother in-law Deb and Jim Peyton.

Preceding her in death are her beloved husband Larry, parents Orval and Della Taylor, brother in-law Gary Friesner, and grandson Alejandro Pardo.
