Arnold Ray Yates, son of Arthur L. and Elva M. (Minor) Yates, was born on August 17, 1929 in Emmet County, Iowa. He died on September 15, 2020 at Regions Hospital Burn Center in St. Paul, Minnesota at the age of 91 years.

Arnie was educated in the Estherville, Iowa Schools, graduating from Estherville High School in 1947. He was united in marriage to Joyce Darlene Aanonson on April 9, 1950. He lived in Emmet County all his life and worked for Golden Sun Feeds for 46 years. He was a member of the Estherville Lutheran Church, North Star Lodge 447 Masons of Estherville, and Elks Lodge. Arnie served in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, dancing and being with family and friends.

Arnie is survived by his children: Douglas Yates and his wife, Charlene of Buffalo, Minnesota; Susan Bueltel and her husband, Douglas of Spirit Lake, Iowa; three grandsons: Matthew Yates of Portland, Oregon; Nathan Yates of Apple Valley, Minnesota; Jonathan Bueltel of Spirit Lake, Iowa, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Arnie is preceded in death by his wife, Joyce of 61 years; his parents; sisters Neva Higgins, Ruth Lungren, Edna Webster, Alice Prentice, and Faye Hosteller, and a brother Glen Yates.

The funeral service was held Friday, September 25, 2020 at the Estherville Lutheran Church with burial at East Side Memorial Cemetery.
