Darwin Clair Zitterich 1945-2020

Darwin Clair Zitterich, son of Clair "Buck" and Pearl (Lane) Zitterich, was born on December 14, 1945 in Estherville, Iowa. He passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2020 at his home in Estherville at the age of 74 years.

Darwin attended and graduated from Estherville High School. Following high school he held jobs in the Estherville area, in 1966 he entered into the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged. He was united in marriage to Sharon Eggestein on September 17, 1966 in Jackson, Minnesota. The couple made their home in Estherville. Darwin was employed as a custodian with Estherville Schools for many years.

Darwin had a collection of eagles and wolves. He enjoyed going to Casey's in the morning to have coffee with all the guys. Telling jokes to those around him, brought him great joy.

Darwin is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sharon of Estherville; his son Shane Zittterich; and daughter Angela (Samuel) Sammons; and 2 grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his son Darrin, his parents "Buck" and Pearl Zitterich, and his sister Judy Houck.

A graveside service was held Friday, June 26, 2020 at East Side Cemetery in Estherville.
