Carolyn June (Farmer) Hansen 1932-2020

Carolyn June Hansen, daughter of Bert and Helen (Velte) Farmer, was born on March 23, 1932 in Farnam, Nebraska. She passed away at the Spencer, Iowa Hospital on July 2, 2020 at the age of 88.

Carolyn married Rodney Hansen on November 21, 1953. The couple were blessed with seven children; Wendell, Melinda, Bruce, Tom, Marvin, Stanley and Maurice. Carolyn worked for Style Craft for 20 years. She was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church, as well as, the VFW Auxiliary and the American Auxiliary.

Carolyn loved traveling whether in a camper or in a big rig with her family. Carolyn used her seamstress skills her entire life. She made clothing for her children and grandchildren. Carolyn also enjoyed quilting, many of her loved ones have a quilt made especially for them. She made "The Farmer's Daughter" doll clothing, bedding and other accessories. Her talents didn't end there, she was a skilled and patient gardener, with family and friends reaping the benefits of her canning.

In the 80's, she ventured into ceramics and enjoyed traveling to the arts and crafts shows, where she set up her booth for "CJ Ceramics". Later she sold 18" doll clothes as "The Farmer's Daughter" a play on her maiden name. More importantly though, she made new friends and shared a smile, a laugh or a moment.

Carolyn is survived by her husband Rodney Hansen; her children, Wendell Hansen, Spirit Lake, Iowa, Melinda Hansen, Eagle Mountain, Utah, Tom (Lisa) Hansen, Armstrong, Iowa, Marvin (JoAnn) Hansen, Milford, Iowa, Stanley (Kimberly) Hansen, Dickens, Iowa and Maurice (Anne) Hansen, Dickens, Iowa; eight grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; her sister Arlene Rouse,Tennessee; and her brother-in-law, Don Egeland, Ossian, Iowa; as well as many other extended family members and friends.

She is preceded in death by her son, Bruce Hansen; her parents, Bert and Helen (Velte) Farmer; a brother, Sam Farmer; and sisters, Myrtle Schaffer and Marilyn Egeland.

The funeral service was held Thursday, July 9, 2020 at the Nazareth Lutheran Church in Armstrong, Iowa with burial at Armstrong Grove Cemetery.
