Rodrick "Rick" Williams, 68, of Armstrong passed away on August 7, 2020 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Rick Williams, the son of Richard and Ada (Swalve) Williams was born on July 12, 1952 in Estherville, Iowa.

Rick and his family moved a lot while he was growing up so he attended a few different schools. After his schooling, Rick enlisted in the United States Army on December 18, 1969 and was honorably discharged on March 11, 1970.

Rick worked at a lumber mill and was a member of the Jaycee's while living in Oregon. He was also a lifetime member of the American Hunters and Fishermen's Association. He retired in 2004 from the garden center at Walmart. He also worked at Arnold's Park at the Go Kart Park from 2001 to 2003.

He loved fishing, hunting and cars and working on them, doing so until he went into the nursing home. He loved working on motors, he was a gear head! Rick did get to go fishing occasionally, on outings with Valley Vue. He was very social and loved making his rounds around the facility and sharing his beautiful smile with everyone. He loved to be an ear to just listen if someone needed to talk. Rick also loved playing games and winning! He loved being the winner!

Rick was immensely proud of his grandchildren, Timothy Carver who is an Orvis Fly fishing guide and Matthew Sorensen, who just graduated from college with a degree in information systems. He had his very own techy to fix all his stuff when he messed it up and a fishing guide to tell him all the good spots.

He is survived by his children, Rodrick Williams Jr. and Misty (Todd) Sorensen of Kasson, MN; grandsons, Timothy Carver and Matthew Sorensen; and his siblings, James (Helen) Williams, Douglas (Karen) Williams, and Tamara Huntley.

Rick is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Ada (Swalve) Williams and a great-granddaughter, River.
