Mrs. Mary Miner Dies; Services Set Tuesday
Mrs. Mary Ethel Miner, 91, Estherville, died at 12:12 a.m. Saturday [March 6, 1971] at Holy Family Hospital from heart failure.

She was born July 11, 1879, in Stark County, Ill., to Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Shirley. She was educated in rural Illinois schools.

She was married on March 22, 1898, to Arthur C. Miner a Toulon, Ill. They lived in Kewanee, Ill., until 1913, and then moved to a farm near Toulon, Ill. In 1916, they moved to a farm near Graettinger, and in 1926 they moved to a farm in Jackson, Minn. They lived there until after Mr. Miner’s death in 1936. In 1937 Mrs. Miner moved to Estherville. She was a member of the Union Baptist Church of Estherville.

She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. George (Virgie) Meiners, Gruver; Mrs. Gladys Kruse, Estherville; and Mrs. Edgar (Beulah) Kroupa, Stewartsville, Minn.; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, Floyd Shirley, Peoria, Ill.; two sisters, Bessie Rahmeyer, Kenwanee, Ill.; and Luella Foglesong, St. Petersburg, Fla. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two sons.

Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Union Baptist Church, Estherville, with the Rev. E. Val Hauck officiating. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Pleasant View Cemetery, Kewanee, Ill.

Friends may call at the Reese-Henry Funeral Home until Tuesday. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 8, 1971)
