Funeral services were held Saturday, November 3, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at Estherville Lutheran Church, Pastor Susan Stone, officiating. Honorary Casketbearers were Don’s grandchildren, Rylee Miller, Blake Miller, Cael Miller, Eric DeVos, Karver Miller, Tate Miller. Active casketbearers were Bud Schnell, Darvin Schnell, Doug Evans, Kevin Wegner, Greg Domino, Dale Johnson, Bob Lowe and Keith Master. Interment will be in East Side Memorial Cemetery in Estherville.

Donald D. Miller, the son of Dan and LaVernia (Hildreth) Miller was born September 15, 1944, in Estherville. He died Tuesday, October 30, 2007, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota, at the age of 63 years.

He was raised in Graettinger and graduated from Graettinger in High School in 1962.

ON December 3, 1967 he was united in marriage to Colleen Swanson of Estherville. Following their marriage the couple made their home in Estherville. Don started working for the USDA in 1965 and he retired in September of 1995 after 30 years of service. Don then worked at the Kountry Woodhut in Graettinger and The Woodworker’s Shop in Estherville.

He was a member of the Estherville Lutheran Church. For hobbies, he enjoyed farming, woodworking and spending his time with grandkids.

Grateful for having shared Don’s life are his wife, Colleen of Estherville; his children, Kenin Miller and his wife, Nicole of Estherville; Matt Miller and wife, Heather of Waconia, Minnesota. Grandpa Don will be missed by his best friends, his grandchildren, Rylee, Blake, Cael, Eric, Kraver and Tate. He is also survived by his brother, Alvin Miller and his wife, Penny of Estherville; sister, Connie O’Shea of Jackson, Minnesota; mother-in-law, Lola Swanson of Estherville; sister-in-law, Rhonda Bonk and her husband, Mike of Truman, Minnesota; one uncle, Kieth Hildreth and his wife, Jo of Wallingford and one aunt, Lavida Hildreth of Estherville and nieces and nephews, Christina Haycraft, Philip Moony, Kim Williams, Kevin Miller and Kurt Miller.

Preceding Don in death were his parents, father-in-law, Kenneth Swanson and brothers-in-law, Douglas Mooney and Terry O’Shea. (Estherville Daily News, November 7, 2007)
