Mrs. T.J. Stromer Passes Away At Daughter’s Home
Mrs. T.J. Stromer passed away at the home of her daughter Mrs. S. E. Westrem of Rio, Wisconsin, on November 14. She was buried at Norway Grove cemetery beside her husband who died in 1901. Her death was caused by weakness due to old age, as she had reached the age of 84 years.Mrs. Stromer, whose maiden name was Synneva Thorsness, was born in Sogn, Norway in 1840. At the age of seven years she immigrated to this country with her parents, who settled at Koshkonong, Prairie, Wis. Here she grew to womanhood and in 1859 was married to Tjeran Johnson Stromer. She lived on a farm near De Forest, Wis., until her husband’s death when she moved to Estherville where she made her home until last year, when she moved to Rio, Wis.
She leaves to mourn her loss seven children, seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, two sisters and one brother. Four of her children vis: Mrs. S.E. Westrem of Rio, Wis., Mrs. W. A. Norby of Williston, N. Dak., Andrew O. of De Forest, Wis., and Theodore S. of Estherville were present at the funeral. A daughter, Miss Hannah Stromer of this city was unable to attend the funeral of her mother on account of ill health.
Mrs. Stromer was a faithful, life-long member of the Norwegian Lutheran Church. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, December 3, 1924)
