William H. DeWall Dies
William H.R. DeWall, 59, lifetime area resident, died yesterday at 3 p.m. at Holy Family Hospital. Mr. DeWall was hospitalized three weeks ago after suffering a stroke.William Herman Robert DeWall was born Oct. 21, 1901 in Twelve Mile Lake Township, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Claus De Wall. He received his education in the township schools.
He was married March 10, 1935 to Louise Eshouse at the home of friends in Twelve Mile Lake Township. Mr. and Mrs. DeWall spent their entire married life farming in Emmet County with the exception of a few years spent on a farm in Palo Alto County.
A member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Mr. DeWall had served for many years on the church board of trustees and the board of finance.
Mr. DeWall is survived by his wife, Louise; his mother-in-law, Mrs. Jane Eshouse, who has made her home for many years with Mr. and Mrs. DeWall; two brothers, Edward of Wallingford and Albert of Graettinger; and four sisters, Mrs. Glenn Whitish and Mrs. Elmer Peterson, both of Estherville, Mrs. August Baedke of Ruthven and Mrs. H.G. Hyatt of Council Bluffs. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Funeral services are to be Monday with a family service at 11:30 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church and a service for friends at 2 p.m., the Rev. Walter Discher officiating. Burial is to be in Oak Hill cemetery.
Friends may call at Sternborg-Reese Funeral Home from Sunday noon until 10 a.m. Monday at which time the body will be taken to the church to lie in state until time of the services. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, July 29, 1961)
