Died Wednesday Afternoon at Portland, Oregon

Telegram Received by J.J. Klopp Thursday Morning – Well Known in Estherville
Frank H. [Herbert] Lathrop died at his home in Portland, Oregon, Wednesday afternoon, April 26th, of heart failure just as he was recovering from an attack of pneumonia. A telegram to this effect was received by J.J. Klopp from Mrs. Lathrop Thursday morning. Deceased had many friends who will regret to learn of his death. He was a pioneer resident of Emmet county, coming to Swan Lake township forty years ago. Three years ago with his family he moved from here to Portland. For a few years prior to that time he was engaged in the real estate business here. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias lodge of this place and also the I.O.O.F. Mrs. Lathrop is a sister of J.E. Jenkins, a former editor of the Republican.

Funeral services were held at Portland Saturday afternoon. (Estherville Democrat, Estherville, IA, May 3, 1911)
