Mrs. Met’s Services Wednesday at Armstrong
Johanna Alizabeth Metz, 81, Estherville, died at 11:30 p.m. Jan. 26 in Holy Family Hospital, Estherville.Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First Presbyterian Church, Armstrong, with the Rev. Leslie Lewis officiating. Interment will be in Armstrong Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at Reese-Henry Funeral Home, Ringsted, after 10 a.m. Tuesday.
She was born Dec. 25, 1892, in Humboldt to James and Anna Rasmussen Beck. She was educated in schools in Humboldt and Kossuth County, having spent her childhood in Humboldt county and moved to a farm southeast of Armstrong in 1903. On Oct. 22, 1913, she was married to Richard Metz in Armstrong. They farmed in the Ringsted area until 1958, when they retired and moved into Ringsted.
Mrs. Metz was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Armstrong.
She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Mary Long, Estherville, Mrs. Ralph (Agnes) Wilson, Ringsted, and Mrs. Francis (Edna) Foth, Bancroft; one son, Robert Metz, Van Nuys, Calif.; 18 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Andy Burt, Armstrong; two brothers, Shirley Beck, Burlington, and William Beck, Humboldt.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, one son and five brothers. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 28, 1974)
