Henry Mein Dies at 69
Henry Mein, 69, retired Armstrong farmer, died yesterday afternoon at his home. He had been ill for some time with cancer.

Mr. Mein and his family came to the Armstrong area in 1936 and farmed there until nine years ago when he retired and moved into town.

He was born Aug. 8, 1888, in Oude Schans, Netherlands, the son of Gerald and Grietje Mein. He received his education in the Netherlands and came alone to the United States when he was 18. Mr. Mein worked in the Britt and Kanawha areas when he first came to this country.

He was married Feb. 22, 1925 to Gepke Bunk at Kanawha. The Meins farmed there until moving to Armstrong.

Survivors include his widow, five sons, three daughters, 22 grandchildren, one great grandchild, one brother and three half brothers. Two sons and one daughter, Gerald, George and Ella, farm north of Armstrong. The three other sons are Abbo of Swea City, Lucas of Maple Hill and Dick in the army at Redstone Arsenal in Alabama. The other daughters are Mrs. Stuart (Dora) Anderson of Estherville and Mrs. Raymond (Tillie) Gustafson of Ledyard. His brother, George, and three half brothers all live in The Netherlands.

Preceding him in death were one daughter, Mrs. Margaret Boomgarden; two great grandchildren, one sister, Fannie; and his parents.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at First Methodist Church at Armstrong with the Rev. R.D. Tappemeyer officiating. Burial will be in Armstrong Grove cemetery. Slaba Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, June 11, 1958)
