Services for Mrs. McKean Are Thursday
Funeral services for Mrs. Charles McKean, 62, of Armstrong will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. at the Presbyterian church in Armstrong with the Rev. Alex Orr officiating. Burial will be at Armstrong.

Mrs. McKean died Monday at Holy Family hospital after a two months illness.

Emma Steele was born Dec. 15, 1892 at Edgewood, Ia., where she spent her girlhood and received her elementary and high school education. She attended Upper Iowa university at Fayette.

She came to Maple Hill as a school teacher and was married Feb. 26, 1919 to Charles McKean. The couple farmed in Estherville, Ceylon and Armstrong communities.

Mrs. McKean was an active member of the Armstrong Presbyterian church and took an active part in community affairs.

Survivors include her husband, three sons, Merton of Armstrong, Russell of Armstrong and Keith at home; five daughters, Mrs. Calvin (Gertrude) Jensen of Armstrong, Mrs. Oliver (Dorothy) Helgeson of Armstrong, and Joyce, Margola and Mary Jean McKean, all at home; nine grandchildren, one brother, Allie Steele of Los Angeles; and one sister, Mrs. J.D. Bagby of Whittier, Calif. Her parents and one brother, Charles Todd, preceded her in death. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 5, 1955)
