Armstrong Man Dies; Services to Be Saturday
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Armstrong for Thomas Lavere (Mike) Manley. The 70-year old Armstrong resident died Tuesday [December 23, 1969] evening at the Holy Family Hospital in Estherville from complications of diabetes.

He was born April 2, 1899, at Eldora to Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Manley. He received his education in rural Armstrong schools then moved to a farm near Armstrong with his parents in 1904.

Manley farmed near Armstrong until 1943 when he moved to Armstrong where he did tiling work and farm labor. He had made his home with his two sisters, Fern and Flossie Manley, since 1943.

He is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Letha Harris, Miss Flossie Manley and Miss Fern Manley, all of Armstrong; and one brother, George, Armstrong.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The Rev. Travis Cannaday will officiate with burial in the Armstrong Grove Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Slaba-Reese Funeral Home until noon Saturday. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA., December 26, 1969)
