Mrs. Manley Dies at 81
Armstrong – Mrs. Thomas Manley, 81, died at her home in Armstrong at 11 a.m. yesterday after a four-week siege of illness. Complications of old age were given as the cause of death.Mrs. Manley, a daughter of the late William and Kathryn Luscombe, was born and educated in the Radcliffe area. She was married Oct. 19, 1898 at Algona.
The couple farmed at Iowa Falls for 15 years prior to moving to the Armstrong area in 1910. In 1944 Manley retired and moved to Armstrong; he preceded his wife in death.
Mrs. Manley was a member of the First Methodist Church of Armstrong.
Three daughters, Fern, Flossie and Mrs. Willis Harris; and two sons, Lavere and George, now living south of Armstrong, survive. There are six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
William Luscombe and John Luscombe, both of Fairmont, and James Luscombe of Ceylon are brothers of the deceased; Mrs. Amy Houck of Radcliffe and Mrs. Annie Toms of Fairmont are sisters.
Services are set for 2 p.m. Sunday at the First Methodist church, the Rev. R.D. Tappmeryer officiating. Burial will be in Armstrong Grove cemetery.
Friends may call at the Slaba Funeral Home in Armstrong until Sunday noon. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 12, 1960)
