Alma Madden of LuVerne Dies Dec. 24
Mrs. Alma M. Madden, 82, of LuVerne, died Wednesday, Dec. 24, at the Hancock Memorial Hospital in Britt.Funeral services were held in the United Methodist Church at LuVerne at 10:30 a.m. Saturday with Rev. Fred C. Rowley officiating. Burial was in the Armstrong Grove Cemetery at Armstrong with the Blake Funeral Home of LuVerne in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were nephews, Lloyd Madden, Loren Madden, Stephen Burr, Cecil Langerman, Mark Langerman and Willard Bannister.
Born at Lisbon, Iowa, Oct. 29, 1893, Alma Madden was a daughter of Michael and Ida Yessler Kohl. She taught school in the Halpha [Halfa] area for some time prior to her marriage there Dec. 30, 1914 to Joseph W. Madden. The couple farmed in the Fenton area and following the death of her husband in 1964, Mrs. Madden moved to LuVerne.
She is survived by her two daughters, Lavon, Mrs. James Mallory of LuVerne, and Joan, Mrs. Howard Boyer of Waukee. There are two grandchildren and one sister, Alta, Mrs. George Madden of Ringsted, who also survive. (Algona Upper Des Moines, Algona, IA, December 31, 1975)

Luverne – Funeral services for Mrs. Alma M. [Mae] Madden, 82, a former Fenton and Halfa area resident, will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Luverne with burial at the Armstrong Grove Cemetery in Armstrong. She died Wednesday [December 24, 1975] at the Hancock Memorial Hospital at Britt.Mrs. Madden was born to Michael and Ida Kohl in Lisbon [October 29, 1893] and was married to Joseph Madden Dec. 20, 1913 at Halfa. She had been employed as a schoolteacher in the Halfa School.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. James (LaVon) Mallory, Luverne; and Mrs. Howard (Joan) Boyer, Waukee; two grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. George Madden, Ringsted. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1964.
