John Logan
Estherville – Services for John A. [Austin] Logan, 62, will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. in the Wallingford Lutheran Church with Pastor Virgil Anderson officiating. Interment will be in Armstrong Grove Cemetery, Armstrong, with military service by Estherville VFW and American Legion Posts. He died Friday, Sept. 16, 1988 at his home.Friends may call at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville from 3-9 p.m. Sunday.
Logan was born March 25, 1926 at Colony, Kansas, the son of Samuel and Barbara (Williams) Logan. He attended Smith County, Kansas schools until moving to Estherville with his family when a freshman. He was a 1944 graduate of Estherville High School. On June 5, 1946, he was united in marriage with Darlene Vigdal at Jackson, Minn. The couple farmed near Terril and Wallingford. In 1967 they moved into Estherville where he was employed by the City of Estherville until his retirement in March of 1988. Logan was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Wallingford Lutheran Church and a Life member of Estherville VFW Post 3388.
Survivors include his wife, Darlene; two sons: Dennis, Belvidere, Ill. and Joh, Estherville; three daughters: all of Estherville, Mrs. Larry (Sheri) Jensen, Mrs. Augie (Pat) Von Behren and Bobbi Jo Dalen; 12 grandchildren; four brothers: Dean, Edmonds, Wash.; Dale, Portland, Ore.; Sam, Wichita, Kans. and Glen, Boise, Ida.; one sister, Mrs. Sievert (Edith) Liedtke, Haysville, Kans.
He was preceded in death by his parents. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, September 17, 1988)
