Editorial Comment by G.A. Nichols
The death of Wm. Stuart, of Armstrong, removes from the county one of the old war horses. He was conspicuous in politics, financial circles and in church affairs. He was a builder, a man of conviction. He was oftener right than wrong and during our long acquaintance with him we admired him for his real worth. If there were more of Mr. Stuart’s character the country would not be in the chaotic condition that it is today. His efforts while in the legislature were always in behalf of the unfortunate and for the betterment of the state. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, April 14, 1936)
