Milford Sampson
Curlew – Services for Milford (Sam) Sampson will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at the United Methodist Church at Emmetsburg with the Rev. Jon Gaul officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery at Estherville.Visitation will be held after 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Martin Funeral Home in Emmetsburg.
He was born Nov. 29, 1914 at Huxley, the son of Martin and Johanna (Lilland) Sampson. He attended Swea City School. On Jan. 20, 1940 he married Verna Petersen at Ringsted, she died June 23, 1984. On March 28, 1987 he married Viola Laws at Curlew. He farmed in the Ringsted-Swea City area until 1950 when he moved to Estherville where he was employed with Estherville Creamery, later he worked for Farmers Egg and Pepsi-Cola Co. He retired in 1986.
Survivors include his wife, Viola, of Curlew; children: David of Shoreview, Minn., Steve of Sioux Falls,S.D.; Judy Higgins of Sioux City; JoAnn Williams of Emmetsburg and Mrs. Bob (Jean) Grems of Estherville; step-children: Roger Laws, Anchorage, Alaska, Lonnie Laws, Cherokee, Ronald Laws and Pam Beschorner of Emmetsburg and Lyle Laws of Millcreek, Ind.; 11 grandchildren; 14 step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren; brothers: Orville Sampson of Estherville; sisters: Irene Butterfield and Wilma Nelsen of Estherville and Edna Larson of Armstrong.
