Armstrong – Services for Warren John Laffey, 62, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Nazareth Lutheran Church, Armstrong, with Pastor Donohue Sarff officiating. Interment will be in Armstrong Grove Cemetery with military graveside service by Armstrong V.F.W. Post. He died Saturday, Nov.12, 1988 at Fairmont Community Hospital, Fairmont, Minn.

Friends may call at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Armstrong from 3-9 p.m. Tuesday.

He was born January 27, 1926 at Armstrong, the son of Joseph and Nellie (Verbrugge) Laffey and attended Armstrong School graduating in 1944. He also took Electrical Engineer Correspondence Courses. On Nov. 23, 1948 he was united in marriage with Ruth Jensen at the Little Brown Church at Nashua. He lived his entire in Armstrong, except while in service. He was employed by Iowa Light & Power for 33 years, retiring in 1984. He served in the U.S. Army from Feb. 1945 to Dec. 1946 and on release from service had attained the rank of Master Sergeant. He was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church and the Armstrong V.F.W. Post.

Survivors include his wife Ruth, Armstrong; four sons: Michael, Desert Springs, Cal.; Kim, Red Wing, Minn.; Stephen, Houston, Texas and Kurt of Armstrong; two daughter: Mrs. Dennis (Nikki) Fedderson, Ringsted and Mrs. Dan (Kathryn) Thornburg, Fairmont, Minn.; 11 grandchildren; five brothers: Don, James and Raymond, Armstrong; Robert, Sacramento, Calif. and Jerry Onawa.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 15, 1988)
