Drowned in the Des Moines
Robert Knight, the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Knight, of Armstrong, was drowned in the east branch of the Des Moines river south of Armstrong Tuesday [June 6, 1899] afternoon. He was a young man about twenty years old and was in bathing with some other boys. He dove from the bank into the water and must have struck his head against something in the water for he never came up alive. His body was recovered a few hours later.
