Mrs. Andrew Johnson of Dolliver Dies
Mrs. Andrew Johnson, 89, of Dolliver, resident or Emmet County for more than 50 years, died yesterday at Holy Family Hospital at 12:20 p.m. She had been taken to the hospital Wednesday evening after having suffered a stroke at her home.

Mary Elliott was born Feb. 4, 1884, near Elkhart in Polk County. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Elliott.

She attended the elementary schools in Polk County, graduated from high school at Cambridge and attended Highland Park College in Des Moines. She afterwards taught school in Polk County until her marriage on Feb. 16, 1910, to Andrew Johnson at her parents’ home near Cambridge.

After their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Johnson moved to Emmet County and settled on a farm west of Armstrong where they continued to live.

She was a member of the Armstrong Methodist Church.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by her husband, two sons, Marion C. of Mercer Island, Wash., Lloyd of Dolliver; two daughters, Mrs. Ralph (Ermal) Kirkwood, Des Moines, Mrs. Marvin A. (Marjorie) Trees of Forest City; and 13 grandchildren.

Two sisters, Mrs. Bertha McKinney of Des Moines and Mrs. Alvarette Sneddon, also of Des Moines; and two brothers, Andrew Elliott, Douglas, Ariz., and Otho E. Elliott of Des Moines, also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Johnson are to be Saturday at 2 p.m. at First Methodist Church in Armstrong, the Rev. Roger Tappmeyer officiating. Burial will be in Armstrong Grove cemetery.

Friends may call at Fuhrman Funeral Home today and until noon Saturday at which time the body will be taken to the Methodist Church in Armstrong where friends may call until time of services.

Pallbearers are to be Calvin Jensen, John W. Lane Jr., Clarence Kinnander, Ed Grabianowski, Bernard Homsey and Jean O’Neil. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 20, 1964)
