Armstrong – Services for Lloyd Andrew Johnson, 64, Lake Panasoffkee, Fla., and formerly of Armstrong, will be 2 p.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church, Armstrong. The Rev. William Olmsted, the Rev. Travis Cannaday, the Rev. Warren Hoffman and the Rev. Gene Siekmann will officiate at the service. Interment will be in Armstrong Grove Cemetery.

Mr. Johnson was fatally injured Sept. 3 in a fall at his Lake Panasoffkee home.

Friends may call at the Henry and Olson Funeral Home, Armstrong, until 1 p.m. Friday and at the church prior to services.

The son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Johnson, he was born Dec. 23, 1914, at Armstrong. He received his education in Armstrong schools, graduating from high school in 1931, and attended the University of Iowa for two years.

He was married to Mildred Kathryn Sessler on Dec. 26, 1949, at Clarkville. The couple moved to a farm west of Armstrong following their marriage, where they lived until retiring earlier this summer and moving to Florida.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church, served as a director of the First Trust and Savings Bank, Armstrong, as a director of the Farmer’s Coop Elevator, Armstrong, and as Emmet County Democratic chairman for many years. He was a also a veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific.

Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, Mildred; one son, William E. Johnson, Spring Valley, Minn.; two daughters, Marilyn Johnson and Lisa Johnson, both at home; three grandchildren; one brother, Marion Johnson, Seattle, Wash.; and two sisters, Mrs. Marvin (Margie) Trees, Forest City, and Mrs. Ralph (Ermal) Kirkwood, Des Moines.

He was preceded in death by his parents. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, September 6, 1979)
