Armstrong – Services were held Jan. 7 at the Nazareth Lutheran Church, Armstrong, for Orval Jones, 67. Mr. Jones died Jan. 4 at Holy Family Hospital, Estherville.

Henry and Olson Funeral Home, Armstrong, was in charge of arrangements. The Rev. Donohue Sarff officiated, with burial at Armstrong Grove Cemetery.

He was born April 6, 1911, at Armstrong to Nathan and Alice (Burgess) Jones and received his education in the Armstrong schools.

Sept. 23, 1935, he was united in marriage with Lila Cassem at Armstrong. He lived all of his life in the Armstrong area and farmed for 22 years. In 1956 he and his wife moved into Armstrong where he worked for Arts-Way Manufacturing Company for the ensuing 17 years.

A member of the Nazareth Lutheran Church and the Oddfellows, he is survived by his wife, Lila, Armstrong; one son, Arlo, Armstrong; a daughter, Mrs. Larry (Arla) Heck, Onalaska, Wisc.; four grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Elva Williams and Mrs. Alma Sabin, both of Armstrong.

Preceding him in death were his parents and one sister. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 8, 1979)
