Ringsted – Funeral services for Ralph E. [Edward] Wilson, 82, of Ringsted will be held at 2:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Ringsted on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001 with Ron Brink, CLP officiating. Interment will be held at the Armstrong Grove Cemetery in Armstrong. He died on Jan. 24, 2001 at the Valley Vue Care Center in Armstrong.Visitation will be held from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service at the church on Saturday.
He was born on Aug. 19, 1918 in Madrid the son of Leonard and Ethel (Anderson) Wilson.
He received his education in the Luther schools.
On Aug. 17, 1937, he was united in marriage to Agnes Metz in Cylinder. The couple lived and farmed in the Graettinger and Ringsted area. In his later years, he worked from Knapp Implement, ran a service station with his son, Darwin and helped his friend Herb Jacobsen farm. Mrs. Wilson died in 1994.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Ringsted.
He is survived by three sons, Grant Wilson and wife Claudia of Ringsted, Ron Wilson and wife Connie of Ringsted and Darwin Wilson and wife Sue of Ringsted; nine grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; one sister, Lois West and husband Ted of Luck, Wis.; one brother, Roy Wilson and wife Anita of Evansville, Ind. and a special friend, Dona Glasnapp of Ringsted.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two daughters, one son, three sisters and four brothers. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 26, 2001)
