David Warner of Armstrong Dies at 81
Armstrong – David Garfield Warner, 81, longtime resident of Armstrong and the Halfa area, died at 2:30 a.m. today at the Balmer Rest Home at Estherville.Mr. Warner had been in failing health for the past two years. Death was attributed to complications of old age.
He was born Aug. 25, 1880 at Iowa Falls and attended school there. On May 1, 1912 he was married to Myrtle Huntley at Des Moines.
The couple lived for two years in New Mexico, then moved to a farm near Halfa where they lived until 1949 when they retired and moved to Armstrong.
Survivors include the widow, one daughter, Mrs. Floyd Knapp, Des Moines, and three brothers, J.M. Warner, Ponca, Okla.; Ed of Alden and Harry, Iowa Falls.
He was preceded in death by a son, three sisters and two brothers.
Services have been tentatively set for 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church of Armstrong, the Rev. James Rowe officiating. Burial will be in Armstrong Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call at Slaba Funeral Home from noon tomorrow until time of services. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 13, 1961)
