Armstrong – Memorial services for Dorothy Maude Walters, 82, of Armstrong, will be held at 10:30 a.m. today, Saturday, August 19 at the Nazareth Lutheran Church in Armstrong with the Rev. Paul Rothfusz officiating. Interment will be made at Armstrong Grove Cemetery. She died on Wednesday, August 16 at Holy Family Hospital in Estherville.

She was born on April 18, 1913 in Wald, the daughter of Robert E. and Anna (Edler) Mixell. When she was a child her family moved to Armstrong and she attended country school before attending the Armstrong School She was united in marriage to Joe Walters on June 17, 1933.She was a homemaker and the couple shelled corn and trucked in the Armstrong area until their retirement.

She was a member of the Nazareth Lutheran Church in Armstrong.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Martin (Dorothy) Jones of Lake Crystal, MN; two sons, James Walters of New Hope, MN; and Richard Walters of Estherville; 16 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, one brother and one grandson. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 19, 1995)
