Friends of John York of Lake Creston, S.D., were sorry to learn of his death last week. John York lived in this vicinity with his parents several years ago. A few friends attended the funeral Saturday at the home of Pete Gaarde in Armstrong. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 5, 1937)

Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Bosold attended the funeral of John York Saturday afternoon at the R. Gardee home in Armstrong. Mr. York formerly lived on the farm where Geo. Weaver now lives in this township. Before his death he was a depot agent in South Dakota. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, October 7, 1937)
