Armstrong – Services for Goldie Irene Guinn, 87, will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, Armstrong, with the Rev. Marshall Manthei officiating. Interment will be in Armstrong Grove Cemetery. She died Wednesday, May 13, 1992 at Holy Family Hospital.Friends may call at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Armstrong after 4 p.m. Thursday.
She was born June 18, 1904 at rural Armstrong, the daughter of Leo and Eva Phillips. She attended Armstrong School. On May 20, 1920 she married Arthur Guinn at Armstrong. The couple farmed until moving into Armstrong in 1932. She was employed at the Eastside Café and Whitehouse Café, later at Valley Vue Nursing Home in Armstrong. She attended United Methodist Church in Armstrong.
Survivors include three sons: Laverne and Clifton of Armstrong, Ormal of Swea City; one daughter, Mrs. Dale (Burnetta) Cummings of Armstrong; 16 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; one sister, Cleo Anderson, Estherville.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1964; three grandchildren; parents and one sister. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, May 14, 1992)
