Harlene Guinn, 38, Armstrong Cancer Victim
Armstrong – Mrs. Laverne (Harlene [Harlene Joan]) Guinn, 38, Armstrong, died at 4:25 p.m. at Holy Family Hospital from lung cancer. She had been ill since October.

She was born Nov. 21, 1931, at Buffalo Center to John and Martha Hugo. She was educated in the Buffalo Center Schools and married April 2, 1953, to Laverne Guinn at Jackson, Minn.

The couple has lived in the Armstrong since their marriage. She was a member of the Methodist Church in Armstrong.

Survivors include her husband, Laverne, five children, Lonnie, 13, Brenda, 12, Belinda, 10, Kelly, 8, and Vance, 4; two brothers, Melvin Hugo, Thompson; Harvey Hugo, Buffalo Center; a sister, Mrs. Jerry (Donna) Wieth, Indiana.

Preceding her in death was her mother, one son and one daughter.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Armstrong, with Rev. Robert M. Osborn and Rev. Travis Cannaday officiating. Burial will be in Armstrong Grove Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Reese-Henry-Slaba Chapel in Armsrtong after 5 p.m. today until 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February 16, 1970)
