Mrs. Gaarde Dies
Mrs. P.A. Gaarde of Armstrong died in Holy Family hospital Wednesday night after an illness of two months. Funeral arrangements are being made at Armstrong. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February 28, 1946 / Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, February 28, 1946))

Funeral of Mrs. P.A. Gaarde To Be Held Sunday
Funeral services for Mrs. P.A. Gaarde, 60, who died at her home in Armstrong Wednesday [February 27, 1946] night, will be held at 2 o’clock Sunday afternoon in the Presbyterian church at Armstrong. Rev. B. Sinning of Armstrong and Rev. J.M. Kennedy of Estherville will officiate. Burial will be in the Armstrong Grove cemetery.

Mrs. Gaarde had been ill for four months. She was in Holy Family hospital for two months and was taken home two weeks before her death.

She was born Mina Churchill, Nov. 21, 1885, near Armstrong where she lived all her life. On Jan. 1, 1908, she married P.A. Gaarde in Armstrong.

She was a member of the Presbyterian church.

Survivors include her father, Charles Churchill, Armstrong; her husband, P.A. Gaarde, Armstrong; two sons, Arnold of Armstrong and S. Sgt. Earl in Richmond, Va.; three daughters, Mrs. Fern Beck, Estherville; Mrs. Doland Gamble, Forest City, and Capt. Grace Gaarde, Camp Atterbury, Ind.; four sisters, Mrs. Sadie York, Hetland, S.D.; Mrs. Marie Troestler, Clarion; Mrs. Lillian Reebel, Elkton, S.D.; and Mrs. Addie Wilson, Berkley, Calif., and one half-brother, George H. Clark, Boise, Idaho, and eight grandchildren. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 1, 1946)
