Armstrong – Services for Carrie M. [Karen Marie Matilda] Fredericksen, 96, of Truman, formerly of Armstrong, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Nazareth Lutheran Church, Armstrong, with Pastor Lyndon West officiating. Interment will be in Armstrong Grove Cemetery. She died Sunday, July 12, 1992 at Lutheran Retirement Home, Truman. Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home of Armstrong is in charge of arrangements.

She was born Jan. 21, 1896 at Ringsted, the daughter of Rasmus and Johanna (Madsen) Hansen and attended Ringsted country schools. On Oct. 7, 1920 she married Paul Fredericksen at Ringsted. She is the oldest charter member of the Nazareth Lutheran Church; a member of the Ladies Aid and Senior Citizens of Armstrong.

Survivors include one son, Virgil Fredericksen, Phoenix; four daughters: Mrs. Dean (Marie) Ricard, Truman; Mrs. Ben (Ardis) Sweeney, Fresno, Calif.; Mrs. Kenneth (Esther) LeVan, Elgin, Minn. and Mrs. Keith (Karen) Hertzke, Fairmont, Minn.; 21 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; five step grandchildren; one brother, August Hansen, Ringsted.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1983; parents; two grandsons; two sisters and three infant brothers. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, July 15, 1992)
